Welcome to Nursery

The emphasis in Nursery is to follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, which focuses on the development of the individual child and provides high quality learning opportunities for the children to learn through play. The children are able to explore, take risks, have fun, form friendships, think critically and form their own ideas.

Nursery News

Nursery is always such a busy place; a great start to school life at Stocksbridge Infant School – awe, wonder, curiosity, learning, excitement and lots of fun.

After a busy half term when we embraced all Autumn had to offer – the changing of the leaves, spinning sycamore seeds, inquisitive squirrels, pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, spooky spells and after quite literally going conkers bonkers, we have started the new half term with a bang – fireworks, bonfires and chocolate apples.  We also spent time thinking about the soldiers who have given their lives for us.

In Nursery we always love a good book and over the coming weeks it will be fairy tales that fill our days.   We have already enjoyed porridge with Goldilocks, trip-trapped over the troll’s bridge and built houses from straw, sticks and bricks.  Re-telling the stories has been lots of fun and developed our language skills.  We are working especially hard on expression and using full sentences so that everyone can understand us properly.  Some of our children are on The Countdown to Ch…… sssh – we aren’t talking about it – yet!
