‘Learning For Life’
Class 5
Janine Hutchinson Class Teacher Rob Barker Class Teacher Hannah Moore. Teaching Assistant
Welcome to Year One
The emphasis in Year One is to follow the Key Stage One Curriculum, which focuses on the development of the individual child and provides high quality learning opportunities for the children to learn through play. The children are able to explore, take risks, have fun, form friendships, think critically and form their own ideas.
Our theme for this half term is ‘Me and My City’ which will be kick started by a city tour around Sheffield. Our learning will be led by Geography and History as we learn about where we live and the human and physical features of Stocksbridge and Sheffield. We will discover how Harry Brearley contributed to the city of Sheffield with the discovery of stainless steel.

In music we started creating musical soundscapes and today's soundscape was focussed on the noises we hear in a morning. The children thought of all the noises they hear when they wake up in the morning and chose one to represent. They chose a musical instrument which...
